I have never had a skin care treatment other than a facial and had the intent of getting another one when I visited Transformed Med Spa a little over a month ago. All new clients interested in skin care treatments meet with their aesthetician for a quick skin chat before treatments begin. Kayla was my aesthetician and asked me a few questions about my current skin care routine, my problem areas/concerns and my desired results. Next, Kayla removed my makeup (minus eye makeup) with a SkinCeuticals gentle cleanser and toner. Afterward, we headed into the beauty bar room to the SkinCeuticals skin scope.
The skin scope is the coolest/creepiest thing ever. With ultraviolet lights, the scope can uncover skin damage and imperfections that are invisible to the naked eye. For me, my results showed a decent amount of sun damage, discoloration, acne scars and blemishes. Too much time in the tanning booths and out in the sun without sunscreen as a teenager!
Based on our previous skin conversation and skins cope results, Kayla highly recommended me trying out a gentle, acne chemical peel. I instantly cringed… chemical peel!? Heck no! I had heard horror stories of women getting chemical peels and being red, flakey and in pain for weeks. Needless to say I was a bit petrified. Kayla calmed me down and said that she promised nothing like that would happen to me. She went on to say that this would be the first step in ultimately correcting my skin damage and discoloration. This chemical peel is specifically for first timers and those who have problems with blemishes. If I can stop my adult acne then I can help reduce the ultimate discoloration from the scars. After the acne is taken care of we can move on to bigger and better things such as anti aging and smoothing the skin.
So… I pulled myself up by my bootstraps and decided lets go for it.
The entire procedure only took a few minutes. When she placed the chemical peel treatment on my face, I felt a slight tingle sensation but nothing like I had envisioned (which was ultimate pain). I was told that the treatment turns almost to a frosted coating and my skin began to feel super tight.
Next, Kayla neutralized the chemical peel and removed the product. She finished up with a relaxing SkinCeuticals Face Mask which made my skin feel like heaven.
We walked back to the SkinCeuticals beauty bar to go over some of Kayla’s recommended skin care products to help enhance the results of the chemical peel, help me keep my adult acne under control and kick start some of the other anti-aging concerns I had.
I loved learning about many of the SkinCeuticals products. I was able to feel some of the products and man did they feel luxurious. Kayla sent me home with 6 SkinCeuticals products for my new nightly skin care routine. I was pumped! I cleared out my old nighttime skin products (even my favs) and decided to only use SkinCeuticals for the next 4 weeks. Here is what Kayla sent me home with and what I thought of each product.
My new routine is kicked off with the SkinCeuticals- Gentle Cleanser Cream. I have used some great cleansers in the past, however many leave me feeling dry afterward. SkinCeuticals Gentel Cleanser Cream not only removes impurities but helps soften the skin by using allantoin. I do not find myself reaching for the moisturizer right away after washing my face!
Acne is a problem with my skin, and the SkinCeuticals LHA Solution Toner helps get my skin extra clean and is specifically designed for oily skin types. In addition to cleaning out the hidden dirt and grime from my pores, this toner helps to smooth the color/texture of my skin. To top it off it even has anti aging elements!
You Guys! This SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Defense Salicyclic Acid Acne Treatment is probably my favorite of my new routine. It is pure gold when it comes to blemishes! I use this spot treatment on my problem areas whenever I have or feel a pimple coming on. I swear the next morning it is either gone or significantly healed/less visible. I love it!
The SkinCeuticals H.A. (Hyaluronic Acid) Intensifier is more than your average serum. This Multifunctional Serum helps to rejuvenate the skin so it holds its hydration and has amazing anti aging benefits. I have seen a big difference in the size of my crow’s feet wrinkles around the outside of my eyes.
SkinCeuticals Triple Lipid Restore 2:4:2– This treatment is all about replenishing your skin with various nutrients it loses throughout the day and overtime. What I loved most about the Triple Lipid was how it made my skin look and feel. I truly felt like my skin was being recharged. It is also quick absorbing which is always a plus when having multiple products in your nighttime routine.
I end my new skin care routine with the SkinCeuticals Renew Overnight Dry Moisturizer. Originally, I had assured Kayla, I already had a great moisturizer. Turns out there is a difference between a daytime and nighttime moisturizer. My old moisturizer had SPF in it which I thought was fine to use both morning at night. Turns out putting the SPF on at nighttime could have been contributing to my blemishes as it can clog the pores. Now I just use the SPF moisturizer in the morning and the Renew Overnight Moisturizer at night. This stuff is so fluffy and feels amazing on my skin. It is the perfect ending to any nighttime skin routine.
