Baltimore, Maryland has it all; great restaurants, sports (Orioles and Ravens), prestigious universities, beautiful harbor, lively night scene and historical museums. It is full of its own accents, sayings, flavors and culture that is one of a kind. Charm City as many people call it, is less than a hour from us and a place I love to visit. Growing up nearby and having family and friends in B-more, I have compiled a pretty good list of favorite spots for entertainment and dining. I am sure this list will continue to evolve and grow but I wanted to share with you all my Favorites of Baltimore Maryland in honor of the Orioles’ opening day!
Head to the National Aquarium
No matter your age. A visit to the National Aquarium is a must. If you attended elementary school in a 50 mile radius of Baltimore, you probably remember magical field trips to the aquarium. My memories included fun dolphin shows, florescent jelly fish and creepy tunnels of sharks. Last summer, I found myself yearning for another visit. Man has it changed! The aquarium is even bigger and better than before. Make sure you get there early- lines can get long and time slots filled quickly. Baltimore has a ton of other museums and attractions which you can check out here if you are looking for more to see!
Walk around Fells Point (and other neighborhoods)
Fells Point is right along the water and is a wonderful way to kill a few hours. The cobblestone streets, small shops and delicious restaurants make it a must visit. You can also find some super fun O’s gear around this area.
Watch the O’s Play
This is a staple Marylanders, and especially, Baltimorians are proud of their Orioles. Tickets to games are pretty cheap and are super fun. Head to Pickles Pub, across the street from the stadium, before the game begins for a few brews (gotta have a Natty Boh Hon!)
Delicious Dining with a Causal Atmosphere
Dining in Baltimore can be a real treat! Dine along the harbor or in a charming historic pub. No matter where you eat you have to get Maryland Blue Crabs (RIP Obrycky’s! Best Crabs and Crab cakes) and Oysters! Some of my favorite restaurants for dinner include Thames Oyster House (amazing oysters, shrimp roll and cocktails) The Food Market (get the mussels and short ribs!) and Annabel Lee Tavern (duck fat fries & brussel sprouts).
Enjoy some Night life
Baltimore has many neighborhoods all with their own style and vibe. You can walk up and down the streets of Canton, Fed Hill and Fells Point and see tons of bars busting at the seams with folks having a great time. I love to wander into randoms ones to listen to cover bands!
Brunch it out
Baltimore KNOWS how to brunch. From ‘Old Bay’ Bloody Mary’s to Homemade pop tarts, there are tons of places to get your brunch fix. My favs include Spoons Cafe (love their lattes, beignets (called O-nuts) and crab Benedict!) in Federal Hill and The Iron Rooster in Canton (try the homemade pop tarts and chicken & waffles!)
Looking for some more USA travel inspiration? How about visiting Charleston (their food is amazing), or get dancing at Nashville’s Honky Tonks? Maybe you want more outdoorsy adventure- head to Yosemite National Park!
