More and more of my friends have been buying houses of their own. I am so happy for them. I truly feel like we are all grown up now. One thing that has surprised me is how fast they have been decorating. Once blank walls are covered in beautiful shades of paint and unique art. Weekends involve furniture hunts at local barn sales to find just the right pieces to fit the new space. Now me on the other hand, not so much. We have been in our house for over two years and have not really done much with decorating the house.
Now its not what you think. In my defense it is mostly just the upstairs that lacks design. Our downstairs just needs some accessories and paint. The upstairs, however much more TLC. I was lucky enough to get a bunch of quality pieces from family members; the ‘just isn’t made like it used to’ type furniture. Although I LOVE these pieces it has been challenging to create a design that incorporates both the style of my heirloom furniture and my current tastes.
As my husband says- I just need to focus on one room at a time. We spend the most amount of time in the Master Bedroom so I think that’s a perfect place to start.
Our master bedroom is not huge about 16 X 12 and has 3 windows on the one side, making it hard to place furniture and has a walk in closet and master bathroom. I have so many ideas in my head and have recently branched off from my normal Home Decor Pinterest (you can follow me here) board to a strict- Master Bedroom Inspiration Board. Barn doors, white curtains with bamboo shades, pastels on the wall.. the visions go on and on. I wish I could just take bits and pieces of the
whole house master bedroom’s on HGTV’s Fixer Upper and make it my own.
I am hoping to really crack down in the coming months and get the project rolling. Here are a few of the images that are inspiring me for our Master Bedroom makeover!
