Remember that time I made homemade tzatziki dip? (here) Well I first whipped together this delicious dip to put on top of my flavorful Greek turkey burgers We had some left over ground turkey and I was clueless on what to make. I looked in the fridge- we had cucumbers, red onion, feta.. hmm. Totally screams Greek. I chopped up some red onions, garlic and spinach and added egg and crumbled feta (+ some other stuff you can see below in the recipe) and mixed it by hand into the ground turkey.
I ended up searing them on the stove top first and then finishing them off in the oven- just because they were pretty thick. These would be great on the grill as well!
I made a few without feta to make it a bit more healthier for the Hubs. I also decided to go bun-less. He had one later with the feta and said it really made the burger and continued to eat them throughout the week! Check out the easy recipe below:
Flavorful Greek Turkey Burgers
- 2 LB Ground Turkey
- 1/4 C Red Onions Chopped + some for garnish
- 1/2 C Spinach Chopped
- 2 Cloves Garlic Minced
- 1/2 C Feta Cheese Crumbled
- 1 Large Egg
- 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
- 1 Tbsp Dried Oregano
- 1 Tsp Salt
- 1 Tsp Pepper
- 1/2 Cucumber Sliced for Garnish
Mix all the onion, spinach and cheese with the turkey in a large bowl until well combined.
In a second bowl, add the egg and whisk. Add the olive oil, spices and garlic and mix
Pour mixture over turkey and mix with hands to make sure well combined
Form into 6 burgers patties
Cook on the grill or heat a skillet and cook for 6 minutes on each side until cooked through.
If the burgers are too thick heat in over at 350 degrees for 10 minutes
Top with sliced cucumber, red onions and homemade Tzatziki
