Tasting Room in Downtown Frederick Maryland

No matter what time of day you walk by the large inviting windows of The Tasting Room in Downtown Frederick, Maryland you will find the place bustling with patrons chowing down on beautifully displayed dishes.  I have dined at the Tasting Room a few times, always with exceptional service and food but without my camera to document. 

The Hubs and I headed to The Tasting Room last Saturday for an early Valentine’s Day celebration (he had class on actual Valentine’s Day) and could not have had a better time.  Cynthia was our waitress and started us off with crab dip for an appetizer (jumbo lumped crab, aged cheddar with old bay dusting) and drinks. I ordered the featured cocktail- The Winter Daiquiri (banks 5 island rum, lime, simple syrup and allspice dram) and Wade went with a 21st Amendment Brewery Back in Black- black IPA brew.  

Crab dip is one of my go to apps when I dine out (I can’t help it) and Tasting Room’s did not disappoint. The dip was full of lump crab and just the right amount of cheese.

We had been eyeing the Thai Chicken Salad (arugula, cabbage, carrots, cucumber, bean sprouts, red pepper, wonton, peanuts, sweet chili vinaigrette and chicken) and decided to share it. TR was awesome and split it up for us. This salad is seriously amazing. So fresh and full of flavor. This is perfect if you are looking for something light for lunch!

For the main event the Hubs ordered the power lunch- filet mignon, truffle fries and a special TR steak sauce.   I have had the power lunch before, (and was able to steal a bite this time around)  it is delicious and the perfect portion for lunch.  I ordered the braised short ribs with whipped potatoes, broccolini and smoked tomato jus. This. is. MOUTHWATERING you guys. The meat just fell apart and was like butter in my mouth. I was in love.

By this time we were extremely full but rallied for an after meal dessert and drink.  It was a hard decision (everything looked so good!) but went with the s’more bread pudding. (toasted meringue, graham cracker ice cream, chocolate chip) Believe me when I say the toasted meringue was life changing and the presentation made it almost too pretty to eat.

For our after lunch drink we ordered our favorite winter cocktail ever- The Huntsman! This drink means serious business with espresso, stout, bourbon + sherry and is served hot. We absolutely love it and were able to get the ratios of each ingredient from the bartender. I cannot wait to make our own Huntsman at home!

Thank you so much to Tasting Room for such an amazing meal! Frederick Restaurant Week is March 6-12th and is the perfect time to give Tasting Room a try! I mean just look at the Fred Rest WK TR menu– I am drooling!
