Wow it’s 2017! 2016 is now a distant memory. The years keep flying by at a faster and faster pace as I get older. Before jumping into the new year with brand new content, I wanted to take a quick look back on some of my favorite posts of 2016. It was so hard to choose, but I picked my top 3 posts for each month to share with you guys. Cheers and here’s to a fabulous 2017 and taking a look back at 2016!
I started the year with a fun staycation at the Frederick Inn Bed and Breakfast and exploring the adorable town of Buckeystown (recap here). As far as recipes go, I tried my hand at homemade pho and totally craving some right now (recap here). I also shared some of our wedding reception photos taken by the amazing Anna Kerns Photography (recap here).
February was full of lots of fun events. I host a fun girls brunch with my college roomies (recap here), finally visited Troegs Brewery in PA (recap here) and took a fun cooking class at one of my favorite restaurants. (recap here)
We had some awesome spring weather come March. The hubs and I took the dogs on a hike with a relaxing trip to Sugarloaf Mountain Vineyard afterward with some refreshing rose (recap here). The weekends were filled with delicious homemade breakfasts like these berry puff pancakes (recap here). I also did a rare fashion post sporting a fun 70’s inspired dress with a beautiful Urban Expressions bag. (recap here)
So much happened in April it was hard to choose my top 3. I had the most epic brunch of my life at Hootch and Banter (recap here). I went on a day date with the hubs to Luray Caverns which I had not visited since I was a little kid (recap here). And finally the Downtown Frederick Partnership hosted an amazing fashion show event and I was honored to be asked to write about the event (recap here).
I had recipes galore on the blog in the month of may. Some of my favs included a healthy Thai Shrimp Salad with Peanut Dressing (recap here) and an indulgent homemade deep dish pizza (recap here). I also got together with my college roomies again (as we try to do every quarter) and went to Charlottesville, VA to Jefferson Winery and had an absolute blast (recap here).
The end of May/beginning of June was spent on a mini getaway with the Hubs to Nashville, TN to celebrate our second anniversary. Our visit to ACME Feed and Seed was our favorite spot in all of Honky Tonk land (recap here). A grilled peach flatbread was my favorite homemade meal of June hands down and super easy to make (recap here). My Mom and I headed to one of my favorite Frederick County wineries for a lovely lunch on their patio + flower picking in the venues lavender fields (recap here).
The beginning of July we unveiling our DIY fire pit. We (especially the hubs) worked very hard on creating an awesome space to host our family and friends (recap here). As far as recipes go- I created another winner- a Blueberry Almond Chicken Salad (recap here). Finally we had a blast at the first annual Fire and Fizz event at Old Westminster Winery (recap here).
This month I headed to Charleston for the 4th Annual Blog Societies Conference. It was so fun to meet other inspiring blogger women AND to eat all the amazing southern cuisine (recap here). I made some pretty tasty French Style Mussels which I could eat again and again (recap here). Finally, I did my first freelance photoshoot for a new restaurant in Downtown Frederick, Opa and enjoyed an amazing Greek meal! (recap here)
I was so ready for fall this year and kicked off the season with apple picking at Catoctin Mountain Orchard (recap here). A new distillery opened up in Frederick, Tenth Ward Distilling Company so we had to pay it a visit! (recap here) Finally I was thrilled to team up with Old Navy for their #50styles50states campaign! The Fam and I had a blast in Istanbul Turkey and sharing all about our time there was probably one of my favorite posts of 2016. (recap here) I had two favorite recipes in October. The first a Moscow Mules are my jam but adding apple cider made them into a more incredible cocktail. (recap here) The second was a smokey bonfire cocktail made with Tenth Ward Distillery Whiskey! (recap here)
November was all about sharing our time in Italy. My favorite Italy posts included our time spent at the Island of Burano (recap here), exploring the charming canals of venice (recap here), and our special time spent at Vignamaggio Winery in Tuscany (recap here).
December was a whirlwind. In a blink of an eye the magical holiday season was over. But I was so happy I was able to throw in some Christmas time inspired posts. For a fun DIY stocking stuff I created a Rose Hand Scrub (recap here), for relaxing by the fire a Christmas Sangria (recap here) and finally a super indulgent Cranberry Cake with White Chocolate Frosting for dessert on Xmas eve (recap here).
