I have been a HUGE fan of Black Hog BBQ ever since they opened their doors in 2007 in the heart of downtown Frederick. Now the restaurant can also be found in the Villages of Urbana and Market Square near Walkersville, making it easier to get your BBQ fix no matter where you live in Frederick. Black Hog BBQ is the perfect casual setting to have a delicious meal without the sticker shock.
We have had many meals at Black Hog BBQ but I finally grabbed the camera to document the experience this past Saturday for a late lunch.
We ordered some brews and were drooling from the smells in the place. Soon our food arrived in all of its glory by our wonderful waitress, Emily.
The Hubs ordered the “They don’t have the meat, we do!” with a side of sweet potato fries. What I like to call- the trifecta sandwich which has smoked brisket, pork shoulder, pit ham, Wisconsin Swiss, sautéed onions all on a griddle roll with BBQ mayo. He was in heaven. I had to beg him for a bit, and I can see why. I was blow away by the deliciousness. I have no idea how one sandwich can have so much amazing flavor.
I got my tried and true favorite feast- The two meat platter -Arkansas Brisket (double smoked, rough cut and tossed in sweet & smoky sauce), and Pork Shoulder (hardwood smoked and pulled) with 2 sides, corn bread and pickle. I went with the classic french fries and mac & cheese. Pro Tip: The Arkansas Brisket comes with a small side of coleslaw!
I am obsessed with Black Hog’s sauces- it is impossible to use just one. I usually drizzle the Carolina sauce over my pulled pork and alternate dipping in the Kansas and Mustard Sauces.
This was SOOO much food. Wade had to help me finish which he was happy to do.
