Great seafood and chill atmosphere at Shuckin Shack Oyster Bar
I am a huge fan of 41 S Market Street. The location housed Frederick’s beloved Griff’s Landing known for its seafood and vibrant night scene. After closing its doors after 30 + years, the location transformed into Market Street Fusion (recap here) focusing on American ‘fusion’ cuisine for a short period of time. Now, the facility is back to its roots with great seafood and chill atmosphere at Shuckin Shack Oyster Bar. Many restaurants in Downtown Frederick, MD are closed on Monday’s- Not Shuckin Shack Oyster Bar! They actually have awesome specials on Mondays including $1 James River Oysters.
We started with a some brews, half dozen of JR Oysters of course and the fried dill pickles (jalapeno beer battered). The oysters were delicious and came with an flavorful pepper relish. I am usually not a fan of fried pickle spears, opting for fried pickle slices (I know I sound ridiculous- but usually the batter falls off of the spears), but these babies were really good!
So far so good.
For the main event we shared the Saul T’s Steampot (Monday special!) and included 1 dozen raw oysters, 1 dozen steamed clams, 1 lb steamed crab legs, 1/2 lb steamed shrimp, corn and slaw. You guys! Even the cole slaw was delicious. Everything was so fresh and cooked perfectly.
We left feeling stuffed, throughly impressed and vowing to come back for some more oysters soon!
