Fire & Fizz Event @ Old Westminster Winery

This past Saturday marked the Fire & Fizz event at Old Westminster Winery .  The winery is located in Westminster, Maryland and is quickly becoming one of my go-to wineries in the area. Their tasting room is gorgeous, the views breathtaking, and their wines… FABULOUS! I visited OW Winery earlier this year and fell in love. I could have sat outside underneath their gazebo for hours relaxing and sipping some of their Cornerstone (red) wine. The winery is owned by one awesome family, The Bakers, who transformed their land into something special to share with the world.  They have two main focuses 1) to make fantastic wine and 2) put Maryland wine on the map.  It is so true that Maryland wine has a bad rep- and the Baker Fam is here to help set the world straight. You can read more about their story-here and their philosophy here.

The Fire & Fizz event was such a blast.  The Hubs and I grabbed our camping chairs and sunscreen and headed to the winery mid-day ready to eat, drink, relax and listen to some great music.  Once we arrived we went straight for the tasting room to try some wines.  My favorite of the flight was the Syrah Rose (just released that day!), Trio (white) and Channery Hill (red). Since it was hot out we opted for the refreshing rose. We grabbed a seat, sipped and listened to the awesome band, until we were invited to play some corn hole (who could pass that up!). Soon our noses detected the mouthwatering smell of BBQ from The Wine Kitchen and we could wait no more! Wade and I both went with the pulled pork (which was great!) with a side of fruit salad. For our second side I went with the potato salad and the Hubs went with the quinoa salad (I did not know a quinoa salad could be that good!)

The sun was beating down, so that meant some more cold wine, this time the Trio (white) and ice cream from Sugar & Salt! After some taste testing- I went with the ‘Joe & the Monsters’- a coffee ice cream with brownies and cookies. Exactly what I needed to end the event!

Huge thanks to Old Westminster Winery for inviting us and for putting on such an awesome event! Cannot wait for the next one!
