“I like Big Corks and I cannot lie!” No really I love them! Big Cork Vineyards (located in Rohrersville, MD) opened its doors January 2015 and has been making a BIG impression ever since. My Mom and I checked the place out last October and fell in love with the views and of course the wine. (recap here)
Since then I have been wishing to go back. Fast forward to a few weeks ago, I finally got my wish!
I was so happy when I was invited to a Blogger event at Big Cork to learn a little more about the history of the vineyard/owners and the wine making process. We started off the event with introductions from Co-owners- Randy Thompson and Dave Collins, Director of Communications-Amy Benton, and the General Manager- Jed Gray. You can learn a little more about the History of Big Cork- here.
Washington County Tourism was also present to give some unknown activities around the county which I cannot wait to check out.
Next it was off to the vineyards with Dave Collins, Winemaker, to learn about what it takes to have a vineyard and then to the production/fermentation area inside which doubles as a beautiful rentable event space.
Now it was time for some food and wine tasting! Delicious food was provided by Canapes Catering– Chicken lettuce wraps, paninis, ham & arugula flatbread, a summer corn salad and a mouthwatering broccoli cabbage salad. My favorite wines included Russian Kiss, Syrah Rose and the Cabernet Franc (OMG the Cab Franc!!!!) I had to buy a few bottles to take home with me.
What a great time!
I had such an awesome time that I went back to Big Cork with the Hubs just a few days later to relax on the impressive patio, gobble down some Rosemary bread + Rose while listening to the band.
Big Cork is having a pretty impressive line up this Holiday Weekend (details here) which is full of family events, music, food, beautiful views and of course- delicious wine!
Check out some photos from the Blogger event below along with my quick revisit that following Sunday. 🙂 Huge thanks to the Big Cork Team, Canapes and Washington Country Tourism for being such great hosts!
I hope everyone has a wonderful long weekend! Happy Birthday America!
