After meeting a bunch of the shop owners behind the Downtown Collective Fashion Show (recap of my afternoon here), it was time to head on over to the old Frederick News Post building on E. Patrick Street. It was a beautiful day, so I was glad when I had a little bit of time to hang out on Carroll Creek and check out the inaugural Skate Jam event before meeting April; owner of Velvet Lounge, (another one of my FAVORITE clothing stores in Downtown Frederick) for some behind the scenes fashion show action.
Behind the black curtains were all the beautiful people getting ready to get dolled up by JKW Beauty. (JKW Beauty is amazing and was the glam squad for our wedding- check out our hair & makeup here and here) April of Velvet Lounge, showed me around to the different clothing racks (along with a sneak preview of the outfits Velvet Lounge had lined up) and explained how the show would go.
I grabbed a drink, hung out back stage a bit and meandered around looking at the pop up product displays by Shabby Chic & Erica Burns. Soon my friend Maria joined me and it was time for the show to start! The runway was outlined by small white lights and roses with various purple up-lighting throughout the building to set the mood. I loved all of the clothing lineups and it was so fun to see the wide variety of fashion we have in Downtown Frederick. I’d say my first fashion show was a success. Downtown Frederick shops coming together in the name of fashion-one of the many reasons why the Downtown Frederick community rocks.
A huge huge thanks to the Downtown Frederick Partnership, Aspire Boutique, Ec’clectibles, Erica Burns Designs, Molly’s Meanderings, Shabby Chic Creative Studios and Boutique, Silk & Burlap, TLC Bridal Boutique, Velvet Lounge Boutique, Zebop & JKW Beauty for putting on such an awesome event!
The dark mood lighting was a challenge for me on my wimpy Nikon 5200 but check out some of my favorite photos from the show below. Also you can check out even better photos from the show by the oh so talented: Natural Artistry here! (www.natural-artistry.com)
