Saturday was a whirlwind of excitement and fun preparing for the Downtown Collective Fashion Show. I was lucky enough to have a chance to meet with some of the Downtown Frederick shop owners involved in the fashion show before the event started. I met up with Brit of the Downtown Frederick Partnership to get some details on how the day would go, along with a fun detailed itinerary. My first stop? Erica Burns Designs!
I have drooled over Erica’s business instagram for a while now. Erica Burns Designs creates beautiful handmade jewelry that is simple, feminine but also edgy! I was immediately greeted by the two shop pups, Lola and Taki, the cutest Shih Tzus I ever did see. It was so wonderful to finally meet Erica in the flesh. She has such a positive vibe that radiates off of her. I gawked at her beautiful pieces and got a sneak peek on what items would be in the show. It was hard to choose my favorite pieces, but I am really loving this and this! I also learned that Erica creates her pieces with recycled materials whenever possible- which makes me love her even more! Next it was off to Molly’s Meanderings.
Molly’s Meanderings sits at a prime location right on Market Street. Molly’s Meanderings has a little bit of everything; beauty items (seriously the soap and candles are to die for), home decor, jewelry and fashion! I was able to meet with the owner, Leslie, as well as the stylist, Kelly, and get a preview of what would be in the fashion show. The line up was filled with exciting prints and beautiful colors. (the teal Derby Day was so fun!)
I was super excited to meet Paul, owner of Ec’clectibles. I absolutely love his store and am always drawn to the huge Old World Christmas ornament collection, beautiful seasonal decor and ridiculously realistic faux flowers. Ec’clectibles has way more than that of course, including some awesome jewelry from UNO de 50 which was being featured in the fashion show. UNO de 50 creates pieces that are both unique but timeless. I was immediately drawn to this and this piece.
Next it was time for one of my favorite stores in Downtown Frederick- Silk & Burlap. Silk & Burlap has it all- hip modern apparel & accessories, kitchen and entertaining and up cycled vintage home decor items. I was able to check out all the outfits that were put together to perfection. My favorite items lined up for the show were this dress, this handbag and this jacket- Yes I have a love for everything beaded! Angelique and Saule (owners) and Jenni (manager) are truly inspiring and sure have an eye for fashion and home decor.
Maven Beauty Bar recently moved locations (still on Patrick Street) and I was pumped to see the new shop and have my first ever eyebrow threading experience. I met the owner, Rebecca, for the first time and she walked me through the entire process; as well as filled me in on what Maven Beauty Bar is all about. Maven Beauty Bar offers threading services but also sells organic beauty products as well as yoga attire and other items that help promote a healthy lifestyle. The shop is both beautifully decorated and creates an inviting and non-intimating atmosphere. The threading was quick and fairly painless and I was amazed at how she was able to shape my brows so precisely. Rebecca even showed me how to brush and style my brows using organic products. I have never even had my eyebrows waxed (I have a phobia that someone will take off the entire eyebrow- I am a tweezers kind of girl) let alone had my eyebrows threaded. Needless to say, I am now sold on threading and cannot wait for my next appointment!
It is so refreshing to see folks living their dreams. How cool is it to own your own shop doing what you love?! Now It was time to head to the Fashion show for some behind the scene action. Cannot wait to share Part 2! A huge thanks to all the shop owners and the Downtown Frederick Partnership for hosting me!
