After visiting Luray Caverns (recap here), the Hubs and I headed to Sperryville, VA. (as previously mentioned) We first visited Pen Druid Brewery (recap here) and then headed across the parking lot to Copper Fox Distillery. The distillery is located is a large old warehouse that is decorated like an old study with wood burning stove, big leather chairs and other masculine decor items. We took advantage of the free tour which was pretty interesting. One of the cool things about Copper Fox Distillery is that they flavor their malt by smoking various fruit woods to add wide ranges of flavor. (it smelt amazing in there!) We also learned that the owner actually traveled and stayed in Scotland to learn the whisky making trade. How cool? We ended our tour with a tasting (the Rye was our favorite) and playing with the distillery cat! Copper Fox Distillery is awesome and the perfect place for a quick day trip with a date or even party of the itinerary for a bachelor party. Here are some pictures of our visit below.
Pssstt! Check out a previous post about another nearby distillery we visited last year- Catoctin Creek Distillery, in Purceville, VA.
