Downtown Frederick First Saturday: Fire in Ice + A giveaway!

Photo Feb 06, 4 27 19 PM The first Saturday of each month is always special in Downtown Frederick; but February marks the annually anticipated First Saturday: Fire in Ice event. (or as my friends and I like to call it, Fire & Ice)  During the event over 75 customized  & elaborate ice sculptures can be found outside downtown small businesses along with live ice sculpture demonstrations that leave you in awe.

There are fire pits, fire dancers, an ice playground, and free hot coco and s’mores- all in the streets of Downtown Frederick.  We were blown away by the awesome turn out. Each year more and more people travel from out of town to the event.  We met up with a few friends and meandered around the streets checking out all the ice sculptures and some of our favorite shops before grabbing some drinks.  Some restaurants used their beautiful sculptures for a double purpose: Bushwallers – whiskey ice luge, The Wine Kitchen-sparking wine and Hootch & Banter-house made pineapple vodka!

What a great event to hold us all over until warmer weather arrives! Huge thank you to The Downtown Frederick Partnership for putting together this event along with all of the wonderful sponsors! Check out some snaps below from Fire in Ice along with a special giveaway!Photo Feb 06, 4 34 30 PM Photo Feb 06, 4 37 30 PM (1) Photo Feb 06, 4 37 54 PM

Since I have Frederick on the mind- it’s time for a giveaway! My friend Jenny is so talented and just started her own Etsy shop. The Honey Canvas is a custom hand lettered designs, paintings, and stationary shop. Everything is made to order! I saw Jenny post a watercolor of Maryland, which highlighted Frederick, and fell in love.  You can choose any state shape, two colors and any city name you please. Aren’t these prints perfect for an office or gallery wall? Jenny is graciously giving away a customized watercolor state print to a lucky Lace & Grace Blog reader. Enter below-each action gives you an entry! A winner will be chosen on Saturday morning- check back to see if you are the lucky winner.

Love those ice sculptures! My hometown of Somerset, Kentucky is special to me because all my friends and family are there. Wherever they are feels like home. It’s hard being so far away from them while in Nebraska.

I like that it’s a small town. Never thought I’d say that, but I do love it!

I used to work in Frederick – I love strolling the shops downtown. Once the temps get a little warmer, I’ll have to visit again!

My favorite thing about my hometown (rural Pennsylvania) is the beautiful natural setting which despite the growth of the area is still really peaceful and amazing in the conserved spaces! Thanks for offering this giveaway! I would love to get a New Mexico print for my hubby!
