On the way back from visiting my Grandmother a few weeks ago, my Mom and I decided to swing by Big Cork Vineyards for quality Mother/Daughter time. Big Cork opened its doors this past January in Rohrersville, MD and I was excited to see what all the hype was about. Needless to say we were blown away; not only by the impressive tasting room/facility but the incredible, picturesque views of the mountains. The leaves had just started to change colors and my Mom and I could have sat there forever staring.
We started out inside for a tasting. Right away I noticed the artwork; little people (remember the movie- The Borrowers?) working around the vineyards. Needless to say I was a fan. After our tasting we purchased a bottle of wine (the Chardonnay) and I was so excited to see that the cork had little feet on it. So adorable. My other favorite wines included the Syrah Rose and the Cabernet Franc.
Bottle and glasses in hand, we headed out to the patio where we saw a bunch of cozy conversation areas. Mr. Thompson, owner of Big Cork Vineyards, came over and introduced himself which was pretty awesome. We had a blast day dreaming about our upcoming Italy trip (still in the planning stages) and sipping in the fall sunshine.
I cannot wait to go back to Big Cork now that the leaves have completely changed colors and try a delicious meal from their menu! Maybe on a Friday when they have extended hours and a band!
Thanks for the great time Big Cork!
