Its not a secret that I love Vintage Restaurant‘s brunch. I visited last winter for brunch to see what all the rave was about and was blown away by the food, decor and service, (recap here) and ever since then have been telling the world about all the Vintage brunch deliciousness. (Frederick Magazine & Pursuit of it All) So when the opportunity arose for a dinner visit, I jumped on it!
Its amazing how the ambiance of a place can change from day to night. The restaurant now had a romantic & warm feeling. I just loved the low lighting and lit candles. I was so happy when we were seated in front of the famous Vintage Fireplace, which adds to the coziness of the restaurant.
When our waitress rattled off the specials, their Autumn Cocktail Special (local sparkling cider, Sailor Jerry rum, muddles fresh pink lady apples, ginger beer, cinnamon and nutmeg) caught my attention and I had to try it. Talk about fall in a glass! I am not going to lie, I am totally going to try to duplicate this cocktail at home. Soon, delicious cornbread was in front of us to snack on.
For an appetizer we decided to try the Peach Flatbread- grilled peaches, applewood smoked bacon, caramelized onions, pickled kale, garlic aioli, arugula, house made mozzarella and parmesan. We loved this! The sweetness from the peach mixed with the savory flavors from the bacon made a great pair.
I knew right off the bat what I was going to order for my entrée; complete no brainer- the Shrimp & Grits!- Tiger shrimp, stone ground goat cheese grits w/ andouille broth. This was amazing folks.
The hubs opted for the fried catfish w/ creamed corn, smoked jalapenos, garlic, kale and bacon sorghum vinaigrette. He devoured it in record timing. Luckily I was able to snag a bite and can say first hand it was delicious.
