Bacheloretting in Wine Country, VA Pt 1.

I know I take a lot of pictures… but this time… I REALLY took a lot of pictures. As I mentioned before here, my biggie, Nikki is getting married at the end of May.  For her Bachelorette last month, we headed to Wine Country in the heart of Virginia. We rented this circa 1770s beautiful, historic home for the weekend in Stuarts Draft, VA; which is right outside of Charlottesville.  On the agenda was dinner at Horse & Hound Gastro-pub in Charlottesville + bar hopping on Friday night. Winery Tours (Afton Mountain Vineyards, King Family Vineyard & Pollak Vinyards} & an evening Fiesta dinner/celebration at the house on Saturday. For this post, lets start with Friday’s festivities!

I want to point out again how beautiful this house (and grounds) were. We could not have picked a better weekend, weather wise, and that combined with the amazing-ness of this farm was heaven for me. I spent a good hour exploring and snapping photos.

Mandi (Nikki’s MOH) and I arrived early to set up decorations & grocery shop before the rest of the girls arrived later in the afternoon. We had the place decked out in Bachelorette gear and a few surprises in store!

Nikki and the rest of the girls arrived and the party began! We each opened up our little “emergency” kits {c/o Mandi and beautiful boxes made by Amber} that we would need for the weekend; which were absolutely adorable and filled with everything from customized temporary tattoos to makeup remover.

We all freshened up and pre-gamed a little before our taxi’s arrived (thanks Tim from College Cab for the hook up and taking care of us!} and off we went to dinner in Charlottesville at Horse & Hound Gastropub.  We ordered some pitchers of brew and apps before ordering dinner. I ordered the Montpelier burger w/ peppered bacon, brie and caramelized onions. Towards the end of dinner we played a game.  Mandi had asked Dakotah (the husband to be) some questions about their relationship. For every question Nikki got wrong, she was to take a shot! This made for a ton of giggles.

Next we headed on foot to our first bar, The Whiskey Jar, where the rest of us had our 1st shot of the night- lemon drops! We wandered around and decided to go into Miller’s Downtown next where we had some dares for Nikki to complete. We won’t get into the details, but you can probably guess what they were! (caution: this post/next post will probably contain the most provocative content to date for the blog) Next it was off to Commonwealth Skybar (rooftop bar). Dina arrived w/ a  Polaroid camera in hand.  We made our way into a random club and danced our little hearts out before being picked up and heading back to get our beauty rest for the wineries the next morning!
