Mother’s Day is coming up and High Tea at Serenity Tearoom is the perfect way to celebrate! My Mom and I decided to celebrate early. (because I graduate Mother’s Day- and have gradation rehearsal mid day the previous day) I had seen pictures of my friend, Casey, at a Tearoom multiple times with her Mother and Sister and finally asked her where it was. I was surprised to find out, right in Downtown Frederick! I have lived in Frederick all of my life and am still discovering new places.
My Mom had no idea where we were going until my Father handed her a handmade invitation I had made for her, inviting her to have High Tea with me. (I knew my Mother would want to know what to wear!) I picked her up and off we went or our 1PM reservation. We walked into Serenity Tearoom and it was adorably decorated. Fine china tea cups and saucers were waiting for us at our table.
We were able to pick our own teas which came in our own little teapots (adorable) I chose the Hazelnut Vanilla; my Mom, the Holiday Tea, which were both flavorful. Next, the famous butternut squash soup was brought out. It was delicious and flavorful. My Mom and I were in love. We tried to get the details on the recipe, but Tiera was not budging!
Next, a three tiered serving tray appeared on our table filled with goodies. On the bottom were our sandwiches: Chicken Salad topped with an olive, cucumber sandwiches, egg sandwiches, avocado/feta/tomato in warm pita pocket and a warm crab bite.
On the next plate, were our warm lemon blueberry scones and tea bread! To accompany the scone, was a homemade strawberry/blueberry jam and some delicious clotted cream.
It was time to order more tea; this time we both went with the passion fruit tea to go with our sweets. For dessert, there were fruit tarts (one with cream cheese filling, another with passion fruit filling), homemade ginger snaps and (my favorite) chocolate covered strawberries!!!
Serenity Tearoom was perfect for Mother/Daughter time. They are hosting a Mother’s Day special this coming Saturday, May 2nd and Saturday May 9th where you get to keep your cute teacup. Check out some more pictures of our afternoon tea below. Thanks for a memorable experience Serenity Tearoom!
