Catoctin Creek Distillery

On Sunday, Wade and I made the trek to Purceville, VA to the {Catoctin Creek Distillery}.  Our good friends Lisa and Gene had the idea and we had been trying to visit for a while. (stupid snow storms!) Finally we made it! Gene’s friend, Josh, came with too. The more the merrier!

Unfortunately the Distillery was no longer allowed to give tours (saying they had to stop them about a month ago). So that was a bummer. But we still had a great time.  The tasting consisted of 3 samples. A standard tasting was $5, premium tasting $10 and a cocktail tasting $10. Josh and I chose the cocktail tasting. There were 6 cocktails to chose from. I went with the Colonel Langdon which was (Mosby’s Spirit, Fresh Squeezed Lemon Juice, Langdon Wood Barrel Aged Maple Syrup & Seltzer), the Watershed Gimlet (Watershed Gin, Fresh Lemon, Simple Syrup & Seltzer) & my favorite the Balsamic Berry Old Fashioned (Roundstone Rye, Aged Balsamic Vinegar, Blackberry, Raspberry, Cranberry Syrup)
Lisa and Wade went with the Premium Whiskey Tasting and Gene the Premium Brand Tasting.
After we were finished our flights, the bartender brought out samples of their infused honeys and maple syrups. My favorites were the hickory and brandy infused maple syrups which made me have a huge craving for pancakes!

I loved the industrial look and feel of the tasting room with the exposed ceiling beams and brick walls. I was in picture heaven.  Check out some snippets of our afternoon at the Distillery below! Thanks Catoctin Creek Distillery for a great time!
