Beer, Bourbon & Food Pairing: Brewer’s Alley

A few weeks ago I headed to Brewer’s Alley with my friend {and now Bridesmaid} Lisa for the Barrel- Aged Beer & Whiskey Tasting! We did not know what to expect but were pleasantly surprised!

We found a nice table in the Mayor’s room upstairs and started our tasting!

Station 1: Mini Mahi Tostadas with roasred jalapeno salad and cilantro lime cream on corn tortilla. For the beer pairing there was the Czech Mate Pilsner.

Station 2: Coconut shrimp with green curried tostonas with ginger pineapple salsa. The shrimp was delish! I loved the beer pairing for this one- cask-conditioned indian pale ale.

Station 3: Salami and blue cheese with apple Serrano chili compote and Jack Daniel’s mustard on rye.  The food just kept getting better and better at each station! This was the first station with a whiskey sample- Woodford Reserve. I think I grew some hair on my chest with that one.

Station 4: Corn mush with country bacon and green tomato relish. The name sounds gross but it was pretty good! The food was paired with Hefeweizen beer and Gentleman Jack Bourbon… I sprouted some more hair on my chest! Luckily they give you ice cubes and some water. Even though I looked like a whimp, watering down the bourbon was my saving grace.

Station 5: Mini Pork BBQ sliders topped with coleslaw. The sliders were paired with Old Forrester Bourbon.

Sation 6: Hickory smoked beef brisket with balsamic cherry salad on potato toast. Barrel aged oatmeal stout (my fav!) and Jack Daniel’s No. 7.

Extras! They has unlimited corn bread, chips and jalepeno cheese dip.  At the end of the tasting they has Jack Daniel’s brownies! AMAZING!
