Colonial Jewelers Champagne Brunch and 24K Dig

On Saturday my Mom and I headed on over to Colonial Jewelers for their annual champagne brunch and 24k cake dig.  We made sure we got there early so we could register in hopes of being chosen for the cake dig.  The brunch did not start until 11am so we spent some time looking at wedding bands and the other beautiful jewelry the store had to offer.

Our favorite florist, Candlelight Floral Designs provided some beautiful flower arrangements to jazz the place up a bit.  It was wonderful seeing Melissa and her husband again.

At 11 o’clock on the dot Mommy and I headed over to the free mimosa bar.  Gosh I love mimosas.  In addition to the traditional mimosa of champagne and orange juice, they had a fresh strawberry lemonade type punch to mix with the champagne.  Mommy and I of course tried both types… multiple times each…

We also checked out the men’s watch section for a possible wedding present for my wonderful husband to be. 🙂

Next, the passed hors d’oeuvres came rolling out.  There were all sorts of yummy snacks; antipasti skewers, chicken skewers, cupcakes, cookies, THE MOST AMAZING CHOCOLATES!, asian chicken salad cups and roasted pepper and goat cheese crostini amongst many others. Everything was delicious and provided by the wonderful Canapes Catering.

Mom and I also made our way around to the free photo booth where we took advantage of the free props and got a cute photo strip as a souvenir.

Around 12:30 it was time for the 24K cake dig drawing.  Outside there were 12 boxes of cakes around a table.  Previously, the radio station 103.1 had chosen 8 out of 12 to duke it out; with the remaining four contestants being chosen at the Colonial Jewelers event.

My name was not called but we all headed out to watch the 12 lucky ones dig through their cakes.  Out of the 12 cakes, two of them had plastic jewels inside.  Those two people moved on to a huge beautiful wedding cake to go head to head to find the hidden jewel.

Afterward we went back inside for more mimosas and the winner and the runner up were called up to the loft.  The winner was asked to chose between a $1K credit to Colonial Jewelers, or go for a chance for $24K.  He went for the $24K which meant the runner up got the $1K credit- not too shabby!

To go for the $24K, the contestant had to pick three gift bags.  If one of them said 24K in it.. then he won! Unfortunately  he did not pick the right back, but he did a free Breil watch courtesy of Colonial Jewelers.

After the even Mom and I walked around downtown for a bit before heading over to La Paz to have a nice little lunch on the patio.  What a nice day! Thank you Colonial Jewelers and Key 103.1!
