Richmond Weekend!

Tuesday, February 19, 2013

A few fridays  ago, Allie picked me up from work and we headed down to Richmond, VA to visit our friends Ashely, Ryan and Michael.

When we got to Ashley’s house we decided to stay in and make a nice dinner and watch movies.
We headed to the nearest grocery store and bought food to make a nice little Asian dinner.
Yum Yum sauce was a must, so we stopped by a hibachi steak house and begged for some.  Needless to say, it was very difficult to get the yum yum sauce.  The restaurant made us buy something and then charged us $3.50 for a pint of the deliciousness.  So rude!
On the menu was:
-Ginger salad
-Egg rolls
-Potstickers
-Chicken and Shrimp Hibachi (kind of just stir fry 😉 )
-Wine
-Beer
We had pre-made rolls and potstickers but made the stir fry from scratch!
We cut up some veggies and chicken and peeled the shrimp; and threw everything in the frying pan.  Some soy and teriyaki sauce and voila!

The next morning we headed to the famous Millie’s Restaurant for brunch! There was about a half an hour wait, which was okay because we headed to the bar for a mimosa!
The restaurant was very crowded (and after the wonderful meal we had we can see why!) The decor was 50’s theme with jukeboxes and posters.
When it was time to order, I chose the scrambled eggs with lobster, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms puff pastry and hollandaise sauce with a side of home fries. IT WAS ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! By far one of the best brunches I have ever had.  The creaminess of the sauce, the sweetness of the lobster, flakiness of the pastry and saltiness from the bacon made for a combination from heaven!
I also ordered a bloody mary.
I love Millies!

After brunch we walked around Carytown and went into a few boutiques.  I found this adorable dark green tiered, silky dress on sale for $24 at this place called Fabrik.  We also went into this place called Francesca’s where I found the coolest 3 in 1 cross over purse.
After a long day of shopping and eating we went back to Ashley’s to rest and freshen up.
For dinner we tried to go to this place called Pie, but couldn’t find a table.  We ended up at this cute place called The Strawberry Street Cafe with the most amazing salad bar that we all took advantage of. (the salad stuff was in an old bathtub.. how cool!)
Allie, Ryan and I got the Chicken Panino Sandwich (Italian marinated chicken with provolone cheese with pesto mayo on sun dried tomato focaccia.  I decided on the side of the white cheddar mac and cheese. YUM!
When we paid the check we headed to one of Ryan and Ashley’s friend, Whitney’s house for a little pre-game action.  Whitney has pet moss balls, called Marimos. Yep pet moss balls! They were awesome.
Eventually we made our way to The New York Deli to dance and have a few drinks.
