The Wedding Chronicles: Frederick Bridal Expo!

Friday, November 23, 2012

My wedding photographer Anna Kerns, told me about the Frederick Bridal Expo that was being held at the Fair Grounds the first sunday in November. I was pumped because so many local wedding vendors would be there with tons of information and examples of their products, which would ease my reasearching process.

I asked Ashley if she would come with me and my Mom to the expo and she said of course.  It was so sweet of her to travel all the way from Richmond to come with me.

After hurricane sandy, my poor Mom had to work non-stop 16 hour shifts.  I was devastated when my mom had to go into work Sunday.  I made the best of it and was very grateful Ashley was there for me.

Ashley came into town Saturday and we spent the day walking around Downtown Frederick, making salmon tacos for dinner and drinking wine by the fire.

The next morning we went to breakfast at the Frederick Coffee Company before heading over to the Fair Grounds for the expo a little before 11. Soon before we left, my mom called and said she talked to her boss and they cut her loose! I was so happy my mom could now come!

We all arrived at the expo early and waited in line outside.  When the doors opened the line moved quickly and I checked in.  We got a free hot pink tote {to carry around the info packets we would gather} with lots of goodies inside.  Two of the gifts included two The Knot Wedding magazines.  Saves me $15 from buying it on my own- I’ll take it!

I was super pumped to eat the food samples from the caterers I had been working with.  Also it was great to finally course put a face to the name of the people I had been talking/email with.
Leiter’s had a bisque and snickerdoodle cupcakes. Canapes- Antipasta skewers, mini ham sandwiches and mini pizzas.  The mini ham sandwiches were to die for.  Savory Spoon- had meatballs, spinach and artichoke dip and little cups full of crab bisque.  We also visited Celebrations Caterering and Cinful Catering.
Anna, my photographer was also at the expo and had the cutest set up! Every other vendor simply had a table; but Anna transformed her booth into a cute little boutique with turquoise arm chairs and lamps! She also had the cutest little favors of Lavender Sachets.  She is so awesome.

I stopped by my friend Jordan Winn’s bridal make up and hair booth and it was great to see her.
Right next door was Candlelight Florists- which Jordan and Anna had recommended.  We spoke with the owners and getting a florist will definitely be my next step in wedding planning {after I book my caterer}  Candlelight actually made the bouquet in one of the pictures I love of Anna’s! I want to copy!

My Mom, Ashley and I stopped at a photobooth booth.  Even though I know having a photobooth is no where in my budget- hopping in the photobooth and taking a picture was tons of fun.

Another memerable booth we stopped at was the Organized Bride- Invitations and other paper stationaries.  They had the cutest stuff! I love their vintage lace invitation!

The whole time we were at the expo, I saw women with little veils on.  I asked one lady where I could find one, and she said Potomac Bridal! I was too excited to wear my little veil the rest of the day.

At the beginning of the day, I was given a raffle ticket.  Each half an hour they called ticket numbers for door prizes.  A $1,000 Grand Prize would be announced at the end.  I won one of the door prizes! a $75 gift card to Frosted Functions.  They had the coolest, cutest and brightest cakes and candies I have ever seen.

I recommend going to bridal expos to any up and coming bride.  Its a great way to get ideas and gather research on many different vendors at one time.  Tips: Bring one or two people {it gets crowded and there isn’t much for your guests to do} Wear a cross body purse.  Bring typed up name and address stickers- you will be so happy you did.  I was so tired or re-writing my information 100 times.
