Engagement Story

Friday, September 14, 2012
As noted in my previous post, something awesome happened last Sunday night, 9.9.2012.  If you cannot already guess, haven’t seen on social networks etc; Wade proposed! And I said YES! We are beyond excited and cannot wait to say I do!
Here is the tale:
When my college friends were still at my house, Wade had headed to the grocery store and texted me, “Do you want to make s’mores tonight?” I said yes.  We had been trying to make them all summer but didn’t seem to find the time to.  In Addition, it had been so darn hott these past few months and just started to cool down.  He asked if we still had all the stuff to make them and we did.
The Packers game was on Sunday night and Wade was all decked out in his Packers Jersey.  When they were losing horribly he said he was done watching the game and we headed out back to the fire pit to start s’more making.
Of course Cha Cha was outside with us.  At this point the sun was starting to go down and the air was getting chilly.  The fire felt perfect.
We sat outside for a bit talking, roasting marshmallows and staring at the fire.

Wade then turned to me nervously and asked me if I loved him, of course I said yes and he said he loved me too.  Then he asked if I wanted to spend the rest of my life with him, of course I said yes. He then stood up from the camping chair and got down on one knee and said, “Because I want to be with you forever Tara.  {Whipes our ring box} Will you marry me?”
{The bling!}
I was in complete shock and could not believe this was happening and started to cry.
I then said “YES!” and he put the most perfect beautiful ring on my finger.  It was dark outside at this point but by the glare of the firelight I could see how amazing it was.
The air was crisp and felt just like fall! The sky was crystal clear and we could see every star.
I do not think I have been so happy or shocked in my life.  We sat outside for a few minutes and I couldn’t hold it in and called my Mom.
She said Wade had came over to their house two Wednesday’s before to ask them for their permission to marry me. And had already show them the ring.
I talked to them for a few minutes then hung up and was on the phone the whole rest of the night with friends and family telling them the good news. The best reactions came from Amy, Erica Germano and {jointly} Hailie + Maria.  Their screams were priceless.

 {In Love}
{Can’t stop looking at it! Even while driving}
Wade and I had been ring shopping some over the past year but had found a Radiant Cut center stone we loved at Charleston Alexander in Bethesda, back in June.  I feel in love as soon as I laid eyes on it.  When we had visited, I had not seen a setting I had liked but had explained to the saleswoman what I was looking for.  But found 4 settings that had certain aspects of each that I liked.

As it turned out Wade bought that amazing stone and had them design the setting for me.  He had it in hand for a month, perfectly hidden before he popped the question.  It couldn’t have turned out more perfect and I am so glad it will be on my little chubby finger for the rest of my life!

Let the wedding planning begin!

One of my besties, Lisa Carr is a graphic design artist and made this below little picture for us.  Isn’t it cute!? Thanks Lisa! You are the best!

    Hey Tara!
    I was looking at choosing a very similar ring style to yours. However, my only concern is the wedding band. I don't really want a big space between my engagement ring and my wedding ring. What are you planning on?

    Hi Carly,

    The space was something I definitely did not think about when looking at engagement rings. By lowering the diamond it does make finding the perfect wedding band a bit of a challenge. When I was shopping for wedding bands I found that the ones that had a curve to try to go around the diamond actually made the gap seem more visible! I ended up going with a very dainty rose gold band with small pave diamonds. I embraced it and you can totally tell I have two separate rings on but the gap is not very noticeable since the ring its self is so skinny. All in all I am still glad I got the lower setting versus the one that sits high because I already bang my ring enough as it is! One of my friends has a higher setting one and lost her diamond {only after about 6 months} from banging it around. I am sure whichever route you take the ring will be amazing and perfect. πŸ™‚

    I'd love to see a picture of the combo whenever you get your wedding ring! πŸ™‚
